D’Angelico Excel EXL1 Hollowbody Jazz Guitar – UNPLUGGED – Video

To View on Rumble – click here.

This is an example of the unplugged, acoustic tone of a D’Angelico Excel EXL1 Hollowbody Jazz Guitar.

I used a Dunlop .73 Tortex guitar pick and recorded with an AKG P420 large diaphragm, dual capsule microphone into a ZOOM Q8HD camera via xlr cable.

The guitar has an all-laminate maple body with laminate spruce top.

I removed the non-functional pickup. They list it as “floating” but have them taped to the top with double-sided tape. I plan to put in a pair of Seymour Duncan Seth Lover non-potted pickups and good wiring including 4 pots – two volume and two tone, as one might find in a far more expensive Gibson L5

This clip is about the first half of Barney Kessel’s version of “Autumn Leaves”

Stockyard Strut – by Denny Ilett – first section

I’m learning the electric guitar parts of “Stockyard Strut” by Denny Ilett off his “The Organ Blues Series 2” album. You can find his lessons on JamTrackCentral.com

On this video I’m playing my 2018 Gibson ES-335 Figured Dark Vintage Natural semi-hollow electric guitar and playing through my practice amp, a Vox DA5. That’s also battery operated if you want to take it with you.

Funny how often I use that eight-year-old digital amp to practice rather than firing up one of my tube amps.

Hope you enjoy it!

Thanks for watching!

Download “Little Martha” from iTunes, I’d sure appreciate it!

One to Four – by Denny Ilett – learning a new song – the first (easy) half

This is the first-half of a song by Denny Ilett called “One to Four” that I’m learning.

I played it on my Ibanez Artstar AS153 into a Vox DA5.
