My understanding is that after years of faithful service, Dan McCargar, who is disabled with MS, was fired without notice, and without any benefits or retirement from KTOE AM-1420 in Mankato, Minnesota.
Within ten minutes of ending his show, The Morning Blend, they walked him out.
Then, they told on-air staff to pretend he was just out for the remainder of the week. It’s terrible what they did to him.
I called in and spoke to one of KTOE’s on-air staff, who said he was upset and that he was Dan’s “partner”, but I confronted him with the fact he was sitting in Dan’s chair, so to speak, while lying to the audience. This employee explained he was told to not tell the audience the truth.
What kind of people can do this to others, and in the case of the on-air staff member, still claim to be a partner?
KTOE AM-1420 – what kind of people allow this to happen and don’t say a word?
My brother Dan served the community for many years, never asking for anything in return. He’s a good man who deserved better.
He needs people to stand up for him now. He needs this to be made right. If you are in a position to help, please do so.

Good bye KTOE, I won’t be listening to you any more or any of your “sister stations”, particularly KFAN. I faithfully listened to KTOE every morning for many years, back before the Red days, Dan filled in for Red very good after Red unexpectedly passed away. I listen to KFAN every afternoon, until this happened, goodbye Common Man, I’m gonna miss you. Hope you’re listening to our comments. KTOE, because I won’t be listening to you any more, and hopefully a lot more people won’t be either.

I did call the station and told the girl to tell Lynn Kettleson, even though I’m a long time listener of KTOE and KFAN I won’t be listening because of the way they treated Dan. Now we need to bombard the station with phone calls!!

What you did to Dan was unwarranted and gutless. I will do my best to see that KTOE just becomes a memory. Unwarranted, gutless, and cowardly.
Shame on you Lynn Ketlesen and the Ketlesen family. You’ve taken a Mankato broadcasting treasure, a radio station that most area residents have counted on for weather, sports, and area news. You have not only destroyed our radio station, but also the lives of many of your truly talented employees. I hope your happy with yourselves.

Hello Rick, I was pleased to see your letter regarding Dan’s situation and your take on the situation. I had sensed something was “off” with his absence from the station and the Morning Blend. I was not aware of his MS and hope ADA rights are being explored by him and his family. He is really missed by his fans! Bp
Hello Betsy, thank you for the kind reply. Dan is legally disabled, but the station didn’t care. They tossed him aside like yesterday’s newspaper. Terrible people.
Thus far, we’ve had over 2500 visits to this post, but only a few commented. I think most are discussing it on a Mankato facebook page, according to one of my sisters.

My Dad worked for the Linder family and KTOE as an engineer,and they treated there employees with respect. I’m sure Dan was also hired by John who would never have treated any employee like this. Give my best to Dan.
